When it comes to how best start up your new mobile repair business, we have a few ideas.
The concept of fixing minor damage on automobiles is not complicated but almost everyone wonders if they should operate on a mobile basis from a van or trailer or open a fixed location? The answer really lies with the individual but for most people just starting out, mobile is typically the best option.
Low Overhead
Operating mobile keeps the overhead low, which is key for a new business start up. With a fixed location comes rent, utilities, extra labor, property taxes, zoning. The list is overwhelming, and realistically all the overhead has to be covered before you make your first dime. Other than a van or trailer payment, fuel expense you have no additional overhead.
Freedom
A Mobile operation allows the business owner to operate when and where they want, they can go to the customer as opposed to forcing the customer to go to them. We live in a fast-pace service oriented world, you can have a great service but if you are not convenient for your customer your outlook is not great.
No Employees
Unless you plan and spending every waking hours at your new business, you will have to have employees to help at least answer the phone and greet customers. Ask any seasoned business professional and they will tell you finding good employees integral. Unemployment may be high but finding good people is always a challenge. Operating mobile allows to you control your business without have to rely on anyone but yourself.
What’s best for you? Ultimately it’s your decision, but if low overhead, freedom and not hiring employees are important then operating a mobile business is the way to go.
